From Arminius to Rimini third millennium, from the Romans to the fantastic Germans, today from the Russians to the Americans.
The city has mixed, during the last years, its own culture with that of the different populations who chose it for their holidays, for their business meetings and/ or to live the frenetic rhythms of the Adriatic life, where the nights seem to join the days. It has won the name of the capital of tourism, but it is still the queen of the fairs, congresses and meetings.
It is also important to mention that famous people of the city like Federico Fellini was born in Rimini the 20th of January 1920.
The Piadina Romagnola is the most famous meal known worldwide and in Italy today.

To Visit:
Among the most famous monuments and an obliged place to visit are: the Malatestiano temple, one of the most famous monuments of the Renaissance. The Malatestiano Temple is, unfortunately incomplete, it conserves two jewels of the Italian art: the first version of Giotto Crucifix, posed on the altar, and you will find in the last chapel on the right, the famous fresco of Piero della Francesca showing Sigismondo Malatesta in
front of san Sigismondo. A few steps away you will find the Arch of Augusto, first built in the 27 A.C., thanks to the decree of the Roman Senate, who wanted to honor Augusto who restored the Flaminia Road, one of the most important roads of Italy.

RICCIONE
Between History and Reality
The origins of the name (in the local Arciùn spelling), derives from the Greek and it dates from the Byzantine occupation of the Vi century D.C.:"archeion" is the name of a plant which grows up until today in the rare zones of the beaches. During the XVII century, and due to the mercantile traffic which the road Flaminia used to transport, we noticed a fast growing of habitations around that road, and it is during this phase that people noticed the warmness and the cordiality of the area. Riccione became quickly the station for horses and furnished the first services for the traveler. It was the Duce, Benito Mussolini, who had a prominent influence to switch the area into a beach resort; he was the one who transformed Riccione into an icon for the elite travelers who look for the best. |

SAN GIOVANNI ROTONDO
Between history and Reality
San Giovanni Rotondo is located at the centre of a huge basin 20 Km away from the Monte Sant'Angelo and 567 m away from the sea level. Half way between Monte Sant'Angelo and San Giovanni Rotondo you will find the area of the Pantanello zone, a mount where the rain water runs. The gulf, 2 meters large and 100m deep is one of the most important in Italy. The habited centre extends on the hill of Pianoro, half way between the highest mountains of the Promontorio del Gargano, Monte Nero and Monte Calvo. They are the first habited settlements which date from the Neolithic era, during the iron age; the territory was frequented by Illyricum groups who became, later on, the future Dauni. | the village became Roman, and on the East part of the city, a rounded temple was built, dedicated first to Apollo then to Vesta and last to Giano. During the Norman period- the city was surrounded by walls and towers, making it an indestructible fortress.

The city of San Giovanni Rotondo is famous today in the whole world because it hosts Padre Pio da Pietralcina, the humble father who marked a whole century with his wonderful figure, showing to humanity the way for renewal of hope and salvation. A bit farther you will find the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza and the Convento dei Cappuccini where he lived and worked. Joined to the abbey you will be able to visit the chiesa di Santa Maria degli Angeli where the tomb of the father is conserved: tomba di San Pio, the enormous Via Crucis and finally the bronze statue of the father with the stems realized by Francesco Messina. |
